If there's a towel over a car's window, it's likely there for a reason.
Especially after a rainstorm.
Also, lecturing me on how a wet towel is bad for the paint is not only unwanted, it's unwelcomed. Yes, a wet towel is bad for the paint, but water on the floor is bad for the iron.
I have issues with people touching my car without asking.

Tried posting this last night and LJ had a fit. We'll see if it works today.
I have finished the pencils and have begun work on inking the squirrel arts. Soon, soon I will be done with it. If only I believe. ~(._.)~
And, I have a midterm next Wednesday. So if I'm not around much (not like I'm around much now, but hey), that's the most likely reason.
Have I mentioned that I hate Chemistry? Because I really, really hate Chemistry. Firey passion kind of hatred, here. Like the flames of a thousand suns. That burn. Burningly.
Also! Voodoo is up for the Summer. The second day back, she promptly made the "failing clutch plate" noise. You know, I'd almost forgotten what it's like to own a car in a permanent state of trying-to-kill-its-owner. I missed the little piece of crap. :3

Good and Bad
Mar. 18th, 2011 11:17 pmGood:
I am done with finals.
I go home on Sunday.
I will hopefully be bringing Voodoo back with me when I return to SLO.
Bad:
I'm pretty sure I failed my OCHEM final. Which means I may have to repeat the class. Again.
The gas home will likely cost $60+.
The mechanic at Sears probably took about 5 years of life off the MINI's clutch today, as he refused to fully disengage the pedal when he drove it onto the ramp. The sound was horrible, and I don't know why they hire people like that to handle people's cars.

Just lazy.
And, really, life caught up with me and did the traditional mid-summer bitch-slap. It'll pass. Hopefully soon.
So! Things:
-Voodoo came out of the mechanic's with new wiring, a new firewall, and-- GASP --brights that actually work! She hasn't had working brights since we've owned her. :D
-I have plans for ComiCon next year. Updates as they come.
-I still haven't budged on any of the fics. Ah. Sorry. I am made of fail, it seems. I'll get on that this week.
-I saw The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Ahahaha. And awww. Balthazar, be my (cranky, old-man-shoes-wearing) friend.
-Remember that all-female 1776 I'd mentioned?
( They have rehearsal pics. )

1) Am making a valiant attempt at the first of the ficlets I owe, but have hit a roadblock. Am going to try and power through it tonight, probably with the aid of many, many teas. :9
2) Have acquired Great Big Sea's Safe Upon the Shore. The title song is the saddest thing, ever. But "Hit the Ground and Run" and "Have A Cuppa Tea" almost cancels out the depressing. Almost.
3) Speaking of Great Big Sea, they're in Portland tomorrow, Seattle on the 29th, and will be floating around California at the end of this year and the middle spring of next. I am going, man. I need a GBS concert to live. :3
4) Voodoo is in the shop to get her wiring harness replaced. Hopefully, now, pulling the Emergency button won't actually, y'know, create an emergency.

Insulting the House of Cooper
May. 15th, 2010 11:58 amGuess what kiffies got this weekend?
Hint: It's small, round, and looks like a bean.

If you haven't met Voodoo yet, you're probably very new around here. Practically every other post is Voodoo-related. X3

And, of course, there was Jeeves. Elibeens named him. He was the best Jeeves. :3
The other cars... not so much. We would just call them by their model: "The Taurus" or "the Rabbit"... My dad's new car is simply "the Civic."
Of course, with the incoming MINI, I might have to figure out something there. Hissy has taken to referring to it as "Archimedes," which I do like, but I did have a bike named Archie and he was kind've a handful. I think passing on a name would be interesting, but also very odd. We shall see.

The MINI comes in next Saturday!
Which means Voodoo will be going home next week.
I've spent the last month or so getting her ready for the move -- new wipers, new seals on her quarter windows and doors, new right caliper, tuning, overhauls, and patching a hole in her exhaust. There are still things that need to be done, of course, but right now I'm content that she's in working order.
I'm gonna miss the little money pit. Whenever I felt down, I could just hop in and go, knowing I wasn't wasting too much gas or taking up too much space on the road. The MINI isn't going to be like that -- it's a station wagon, after all. It's a hauler, not a sportscar. No more afternoon drives just for the hell of it. Ah well.
My mom will be taking care of Voodoo until I'm out of school in... four years? Five? Then, maybe, I'll get her back and we can go back to normal again.

I've been pretty much MIA, I know, and I apologize. A lot has happened, school-wise, to keep me busy. O-Chem has required nearly all of my free time, and I have projects due in my other two classes. Eugh.
Voodoo is still in the shop. I've been checking up on her periodically and things seem to be going well. They'd pulled her fender last week -- they had to cut and re-weld part of her tail because they'd knocked off so much Bondo that there was nothing left to hold anything together. This week, they started Bondo-ing and will have primer down by the end of the week. Paint is next week. She looks good. I'm very pleased with their work. They also tracked down a new tail light bracket to replace the old, smashed one, and will be replacing her "Karmann Chia" logo with a proper one. :3

Automotive Wry
Feb. 11th, 2010 12:41 pmI have this thing about front-engined cars -- I get terribly car sick when I ride in one.
It's something to do with the feeling of being pulled rather than pushed. It just doesn't agree with these kiffies. Riding in the back isn't as bad as in the front (further from the pull, maybe?), so I'll frequently ride behind the driver, even if there's only two people in the car. It's weird, but it's all I can do to fight off the nausea.
Mind, this had never happened when I was driving, only when I was riding along as a passenger.
Up until today, that is.
Eugh.
I can't wait to get Voodoo back.
