Voodoo is out of the shop and on the road again.

The mechies tore out all of her old Bondo and re-formed her tail. They had to cut pieces out and add new metal and re-shape a lot of steel to get it to look right, but everything feels right again, probably for the first time since the big wreck a few years ago.

Jeeves is totalled.

He'd gone into the shop last week for an overview. We'd assumed that, since he'd been driving straight after the hit, there wasn't any major frame damage. We were wrong. The mechies did some measuring and exploratory work on the (uninjured) passenger side and found massive warping. The hit was so bad, it bent the entire front half of the car, all the way around.

The mechies estimated over $3,000 for frame work alone, not including new axle, wheels, dash, gauges, fuel tank, etc.

It's not feasible to fix him. Especially when a hit that bad will have lasting implications for the soundness of the car. Voodoo still has issues associated with her last major wreck, and fixing them has been a major money sink.

So, Jeeves will be parted out. Our local mechie is either going to buy him straight off of us as a parts-car, or go split on any sales of the bits via her shop.

I was really hoping he'd been fixable. I think my whole family was. We all loved that car.

Jeeves was a good car. His engine bits will go to help some other Dub.

If Voodoo could stay clean for more than five minutes, I'd be happier. X3

Jeeves did his job -- he kept my dad safe in a wreck that might have lead to a death if it had happened in any other car. A T-boning at 45mph is not something folks usually walk away from. My Dad was fine. :3

*g* Cars, like kids, do NOT stay clean.

Jeeves did his job and then some! I'm glad your dad was able to walk away. I mentioned a T-bone accident at 45 mph to my hubbie that your dad was able to walk away from and he was all... O.o....

Type 3s are probably the only VWs that take T-boning well, though.

I know full well that if Voodoo were hit where Jeeves had been hit? I would be dead. Very dead.

Jeeves was built like a tank. A round, adorable tank. :3
