Delicious fashion article from the NY Times.

Two-page article with a very awesome slideshow. Fashion eye-candy. :3

I went to a workday at the zoo not terribly long ago. This being an extra credit sort of assignment for a class that involves being unpaid labor for the local zoo. (And coming home smelling like porcupine.)

While there, I gained a scuff on the top of one of my boots.

Really, this isn't a big deal. While noticeable, the boots aren't "nice" shoes, nor are they supposed to be. They're the shoes I wear every single day and bought because they could take a considerable beating.

But the scuff bothers me.

It's just so... there. In the same way that sweaters get loose threads or coats get moth holes, it's a side-affect of using. Except both of those can be fixed. A scuff is there, always, mocking.

I think I may be slightly OCD.

Ticky!

re: GQ's article on leather jackets, to be found here:

While I generally agree with the points outlined, I also find it insanely hard to take any advice given by a magazine that seems to think that elastic fabric at the waist of a biker jacket is a good thing*. It does not make me think, "Oh, how sexy." It instead makes me wonder what sort of sissy wimp needs the soft, cushy support of fabric on a LEATHER JACKET.

And another, though less pressing nitpick: Brown bomber jackets CAN look good. You just have to get one that's actually cut correctly and possibly made before 1980. (._.)/

*Note -- elasticized leather is okay.

Buh?

Dear Chaps clothing company:

While it is nice to see you taking some care in manufacture and sewing the pockets shut on the vests you produce, you might want to inform the clothing merchants you are doing this. If only to avoid them selling an item of clothing and insisting that it only has "faux pockets."

Although, it was a pleasant surprise to get home and discover that I have room for a pocket watch.

Scissors in hand,

While this may be quite dashing, it will also make you easy to spot should a tiny, angry Frenchman come looking for you.

Thing One:

A compilation of clips from what I can only assume was "opening night" for Takarazuka's Pimpernel can be found here:

http://www.tca-pictures.net/scarlet/mv07.html

A) I don't know why Chauvelin is suddenly French Elvis for all of two seconds, and B) Damnit, Percy, "Peacock" was supposed to be a figurative term. I am not cleaning up after him when he molts. <(._.)>

Thing Two:

37 Things Percy Is No Longer Allowed To Do. )

Thing Three:

I am in the market for a good coat.

As I will be (hopefully) getting one tailored, I request design ideas. As of right now, I'm looking at Daniels!Adams' coat, as it is well-cut and looks so warm. :3

Send me pictures of (attractive) people in coats!

Hissy got me a jacket for Christmas.

It is SO WARM and COMFY and I feel hilariously happy when I wear it. High collar and all, just as I like. I may get pictures when I return to school, because OMG BEST JACKET EVAR.

I'm such a fashion whore.

In other news, the Fastback had its first problem!

*sniff* They grow up so fast! ;_;

The brake line to the front, right wheel is leaking like a mother. It's not preventing driving the car at all, so long as we fill the resevoir up before a drive, but it will need to be fixed. I think it's the rubber seal between the brake line, itself, and the brake. Shouldn't be too expensive to fix.

And, elibeens? My mom loves the name "Jeeves". XD

I'm almost positive that I've complained about this before, but no matter.

I got an L.L.Bean catalogue in the mail. Cool. Neat. I tend to like the stuff they have. Especially their winter catalogues, because, dude, flannel and fleece. But whenever I'd find something I liked, there it would be, clear as day: POLYESTER.

Polyester lining, polyester-cotton blends. WTF.

Peoples who have gone shopping with a Kiffies will probably notice that I avoid polyester like the plague. If I can avoid buying non-natural fibers, I will. But more and more, it's becoming almost impossible to find things that are wholly natural. "100% Cotton" is increasingly rare, and it's pissing me off.

I want leather and cotton and wool, damnit. I don't want polyester and lycra. They're hard to wash, hard to dry, and they attract the early-morning static like you wouldn't believe. Not to mention that they tend to fade a lot faster.

Is it so hard to simply make clothing without relying on damned polyester?

Hurm

Where the hell is style now-a-days?

If I saw a man wearing these, I'd have to beat him.

With his own shoes.

Ugh.
