The MINI comes in next Saturday!

Which means Voodoo will be going home next week.

I've spent the last month or so getting her ready for the move -- new wipers, new seals on her quarter windows and doors, new right caliper, tuning, overhauls, and patching a hole in her exhaust. There are still things that need to be done, of course, but right now I'm content that she's in working order.

I'm gonna miss the little money pit. Whenever I felt down, I could just hop in and go, knowing I wasn't wasting too much gas or taking up too much space on the road. The MINI isn't going to be like that -- it's a station wagon, after all. It's a hauler, not a sportscar. No more afternoon drives just for the hell of it. Ah well.

My mom will be taking care of Voodoo until I'm out of school in... four years? Five? Then, maybe, I'll get her back and we can go back to normal again.

I hope you enjoy your early retirement, Voodoo! You should visit Bora Bora. :D

Voodoo: Wonk! *oil-filled coconut, complete with little umbrella* :9

I think she'll enjoy being at home -- garaged, washed-and-waxed every week, and driven every day. Certainly better than here; I don't think I've washed her in over a year. I just let the rain take care of that.

Plus, our good parts supply place is down there, so if something happens, we won't have to wait on a parts delivery. It can get fixed right away.

Ahhh, coconut drinks. How I love them! *taps her umbrella'd coco loco slushy to Voodoo's drink* ;3

Sounds like being at a spa, with all the benefits of home!

She will enjoy her (semi-) retirement.

She needs a break. Old car is old, after all.

Responsible kiffies are responsible.

And also reminding me of something I read just recently. A PI from Los Angeles and one from New York are comparing cases:

"Must have been... fascinating."

"Fuck no. Boring as all hell. You ever run surveillance on a goddamn sixth-floor walk-up before?"

"A... walk-up?" I don't think these exist in LA.

"Over a business, no friggin' elevators," she explains. Now I know these things don't exist in LA. Even the poor would faint at the thought. Any distance over twenty feet, vertical or otherwise, must be driven. Preferably with air conditioning. If we want our exercise, we'll use a Stairmaster, thank you very much.

I'm unfamiliar with the term "walk-up," but if it's what I think it is-- an apartment structure over a business --then yes, we do have them. Typically older buildings, true, because anything newer would have an elevator to comply with disability codes, but they do exist.

I wonder where the author was from...

We've got walk-ups all over the place here, but we don't called them that, either.

Miami, but he lives in LA now. *shrug*
