After Voodoo... uh... died? (She wrecked bad. I cried a lot.) I couldn't stand being Dub-less, so I bought this Bug from a guy down in Riverside.
Because of the climate it had been stored in, it was dry-rotted everywhere. All the electrical, every last rubber fuel hose, and the brake cylinders -- all had to be replaced. The repairs have been a pain in the butt. But it's getting closer to equilibrium. So I'm happy.
It gets me to and from work with minimal complaining, so I'm happy with that.
VWs are great if you don't mind always having a few minor problems hiding in the mechanics. They're like background noise, for the most part. You just get used to them.
This Bug likes to puke gas if it experiences sudden temperature changes. So I've got a bottle set up in the trunk to catch any overflow. On the upside, if I run out of gas, the bottle typically has 1/2 a gallon in it -- more than enough to get me to a gas station.
I had been wondering if many of the old LJ folks'd wander over, after the TOS fiasco. I put my name on a few of the "Find Me" registries, here, hoping someone'd see.
I haven't seen a whole lot of people. I made friends on here by going through my interests and seeing if I recognized anyone or if they looked interesting enough to say hi to.
I still lurk on LJ because I have a semi-active community there that I mod, and I was looking at my f-list wondering if anyone moved over to DW - I looked you up and found you! :D
