Displeased Kiff, and a Video

The lady who was supposed to come and see Hermes never materialized. More to the point, she has so far not returned any of my calls, nor the email I sent with pictures of Hermes, not even to just say, "Nope, that's not my bird."
I am generally very accommodating about things like this, but something about this whole situation just rubbed me wrong. So, fuck it all. Fella's mine now.
Given his penchant for random, loud, repetitive outbursts (cocktiels!), this may not be a good thing...

Date: 2012-01-13 02:22 am (UTC)I am amused how that is a totally different song than any of the male 'tiels I have known sang, but contains some familiar elements.
I do find the lack of response on the bird-front suspicious, but offering benefit-of-the-doubt scenarios: maybe Hermes is not her bird and she found her actual bird and didn't bother letting you know; maybe she just wanted to be sure he was safe and is not now going to come get him.

Date: 2012-01-14 06:45 pm (UTC)She called on Thursday evening, saying she still wanted to see him. Evidently, she fell while skiing and bruised some ribs. Eh. Okay, that's a reasonable excuse -- I know if I got injured, I'd ignore the world for a few days.
She comes down with her brother, and Hermes all-but leaps into their arms. He sits on her shoulder and noms her necklace, lets her hold him, the works. Keep in mind, Hermes won't let ME hold him. However, both she and her brother hem and haw, because he won't speak; evidently, her boy would say, "Hello, Freddie!" and make kissy sounds. To be fair, Hermes wasn't even whistling for me until a few days ago, so I didn't find this to be suspect at all -- he 's still not 100% comfortable, regardless of situation.
Well, they say, kiffies will keep the bird, but if he ever starts to speak, give them a call. And off they go. I'm fairly sure Hermes was in a bad mood the rest of the day, because he refused to come out of his cage, and bit me hard enough to leave marks. If this was because he truly missed his (maybe?) owners, or because I'd let him be man-handled by strangers, I don't know.

Date: 2012-01-15 11:47 am (UTC)I think Hermes is yours now, kiff. (And I related these shananigans to my mom, who at least once was on our local news as the Parrot Lady when I was a kid, and she agrees.)

Date: 2012-01-15 08:31 pm (UTC)He's actually a fairly quiet bird. He just has certain times of the day where he... goes off. Like a car alarm. XD
