Well, I'll say it again: The Hortens were batshit.
Here's one of Reimar Horten's designs being flown by a private pilot.
If you're not quite catching why the design is so batshit, look at the slope of the wing. Yeah. I'm guessing the stability is coming from that curl, combined with the dihedral, but I'm not entirely sure -- half of their designs look like they stay in the air purely by the collective will of the world's population of aircraft nerds.
*"Whoosh!" of course, being the aeronautical equivalent of "Vrum!"
