So I've been cataloging my books on LibraryThing.

Not everything I own is up there, yet-- hell, that's not even everything in my main bookcase! --but it's a good start.

My physical library is only roughly organized -- most similar stuff is lumped together, but when it comes down to organization by type and organization by size, size typically wins out. So my bookcase is a strange place for someone not used to it. X3

The neat thing about the site is that, if you upload your collection, it can extrapolate what you might like based on that. :3

A word of warning -- I don't necessarily like everything in my collection. Ethan Frome, for instance, is a depressing book I wish I could bring myself to burn. I keep it around because, every so often, someone references it and I like to be able to look things up.

I don't either. :) I've got an eclectic bunch of books, depending on my mood. From Narnia to Dune and back again. But there are a few that are taking up space that maybe shouldn't be. I just have a hard time getting rid of books. :)

If you don't like them, but like having them on your shelf, you can always hollow them out and use them as a booksafe. :D
