Yes, it IS a dagger you see before you.

Macbeth was playing at the PCPA. Me an' random made the trip down with possibly far too much glee, especially considering how much death we were going to witness in the coming hours.

And gore. And goo. Banquo really needs to learn to not dribble blood everywhere. Ectoplasmic or not, the stage hands didn't look pleased when they had to come clean up after him.

It was a good show, and very well-staged. There was death! Mayhem! Crossdressing! Fondling! Everything I like about a play. I may not be a big fan of Shakespeare, but I do enjoy seeing it performed well.

Macbeth and Banquo.
Macbeth and his soon-to-be-ghosty best friend. Look out, Macbeth! He's gonna ooze all over your dinnerparty!

Wyrd Sisters
The Wyrd Sisters. random didn't seem to care much for their frequent fondling and "little orgasmic noises." But I thought it was hilarious and gave me something to chuckle over in an otherwise grim and serious play. These actors must be VERY comfortable with one-another.

I'm a little bit terrified, here.

Whenever Macbeth was suffering the consequences of his dumbassery, the sisters would slither out of the trees or the rocks or from under the stage and writhe all against one another. They would make little squeals (of joy, I suppose) whenever something terrible happened to Macbeth.

For the most part, they were unnoticable and served only as a very active background prop. If you were looking for them, you'd see them, but they were usually off to the sides and in shadow. You only realized they were there when one of them would giggle at the occurrences onstage.

Huh. That's actually an awesomely creepy use of them.

It was. I was impressed they managed to pull it off. I think it skirted the edge of what I would consider acceptable-but-not-cheesy, but managed to stay on the good side of that line.

The best use of them, I think, was at the party, when Everyone's Favorite Ghost shows up to crash it all. The Sisters are mingling about the edges of the party, serving wine to folks from large jugs. No one can see them, really, even though they're interacting with them. Banquo gets Macbeth's attention, and as Macbeth is raving at OMG GHOST, one of the sisters offers Banquo the jug. She pours him some wine, which he drinks but doesn't swallow. It's not wine. Banquo smiles at Macbeth and... yeah, the stage hands must have loved that scene. The poor schmuck sent to clean that up did not look pleased.

Buddy drank an entire cupful of stageblood, then gave Our Hero the best shit-eating grin, ever. It dribbled all over himself and the stagefloor. :3

EWWWWW! XD Awesome. I wanna see this company do Titus, it's pretty much Shakespeare's goriest play. I bet they'd have fun!

It WAS fun. I don't even really like Shakespeare and I enjoyed it.

This company always does good stuff. The whole lot of them are talented like woah, even the less-experienced actors and students. I've seen three other plays with pretty much that same cast, and they were all fantastic.

Their Les Miserables, for instance, was better than some of the Broadway clips I've seen.
