1. If the power goes out, the hot water goes out, too.

2. Showers require hot water, lest your freeze your ass off.

3. While candles are a good light source, they don't like being carried around outside.

4. When blowing out a candle, make sure there isn't a puddle of melted wax at the very top.

So, um, [livejournal.com profile] random_redshirt? The wax all over the microwave? Ah, kinda my fault. ( ._.)

Oy how I hate power outages! D: My friend just informed me that last night her power went out and will probably be out for three days.

Geeze!

Why does it take so long for the power company to get in and do their job? D:

Because she lives like... 3859892438949485 million miles out. DX I feel very fortunate right now because that's only like, five miles from where I live. DX

That would be because the water heater requires power to, y'know... heat water.

You know what else I discovered happens to water when the power goes out? It stops getting pumped to the upper floors of tall buildings. I discovered this in res. I have lived on the ground floor ever since.

When blowing out a candle, make sure there isn't a puddle of melted wax at the very top.

I carefully drain the wax onto something it will be easy to scrap off, and then when it's cooled but still warm and pliable, I make it into shapes. :3

I'm used to having a gas water heater, wherein power doesn't affect hot water. But here, it's all electric. So, very strange.

Eeeek! *loves her ground floor room all the more*

...shapes, huh? Like kitteh? =^..^=

Gas water heaters have only existed in my life when I was at my grampy's camp, which was a shack in the woods. :3

I've also never lived in a place with a gas stove. Electricity and me, we're buddies.

Dare I ask? O_o Was it a weather-related outage?

Mylar balloon, into the power lines.

It was out for a little over an hour. Not usually a problem, save that I had Chem in the morning and needed to study. So, candles.

Also, someone on the third floor that overlooks the dumpsters took advantage of the darkness to chuck their large-screen TV out of the window. I assume they were aiming for the trash. They missed. I walked through the mess in the darkness, going, "Why is the ground crunchy?"
