1. If the power goes out, the hot water goes out, too.
2. Showers require hot water, lest your freeze your ass off.
3. While candles are a good light source, they don't like being carried around outside.
4. When blowing out a candle, make sure there isn't a puddle of melted wax at the very top.

You know what else I discovered happens to water when the power goes out? It stops getting pumped to the upper floors of tall buildings. I discovered this in res. I have lived on the ground floor ever since.
When blowing out a candle, make sure there isn't a puddle of melted wax at the very top.
I carefully drain the wax onto something it will be easy to scrap off, and then when it's cooled but still warm and pliable, I make it into shapes. :3

Also, someone on the third floor that overlooks the dumpsters took advantage of the darkness to chuck their large-screen TV out of the window. I assume they were aiming for the trash. They missed. I walked through the mess in the darkness, going, "Why is the ground crunchy?"
