Oh, What The Hell. B|

Today, I got a ticket.
Invalid parking permit, the officer said. Said I forged it. $250 fine.
I bought it from the Administration Building last week. It was most certainly valid. No, it wasn't forged. Their whole basis for it all?
I wrote the date on it, myself, because I'd bought it ahead of time. Day permit, you know. And my 7 looked like a 4.
Seriously.
I've sent in an appeal. We'll see how this goes.
Worth noting that the other folks in the lot, many of whom did not have permits at all, did not get tickets. I'm betting they pulled over to look at Voodoo and figured it was time to fuck up someone's day.

Date: 2009-04-08 06:06 am (UTC)I went out when I saw the officer next to Voodoo. She told me that I'd "manipulated this permit" because the 7 had CLEARLY been a 4. I said, "no, that's most certainly a 7. I assure you, I have not changed the permit." There was a 4 next to it on the permit, they looked nothing alike.
"Well," says she, "I already wrote the ticket, so. You have 21 days to appeal."
It pisses me off when I get told I'm doing wrong AND HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. Sure, catch me when I'm actually being a sneaky bastard. I don't mind. Hell, I'd probably cheer a little inside because hey, sneaky bastard was caught, even if the sneaky bastard was me. But this? If I'm going to be punished, I'd want it to be for a valid reason, not just because the cop wanted a scapegoat.
Beyond that... it really would have never occurred to me to screw with a parking permit. It's just... beyond me, really. Not that I don't have the guts or anything like that. I just... it's so dishonest. ( ._.)

Date: 2009-04-08 03:04 pm (UTC)If you're going to do something risky, something like forging a parking permit is so petty.

Date: 2009-04-08 03:33 pm (UTC)Something I just thought of -- if it WAS because Voodoo looked expensive, that cop has a pretty skewed view of "expensive." It was raining yesterday, so I'd taped up Voodoo's windshield with duct tape to stop any leaking. The entire front window was pretty much covered in the stuff.
I mean, pretty car, but COVERED. IN. DUCT. TAPE.

Date: 2009-04-08 04:22 pm (UTC)Maybe the parking enforcement cop has something against duct tape in general?

Date: 2009-04-08 03:30 pm (UTC)It'll take almost a month for it to get reviewed and decided upon, though. And then, if I'm not cleared, I have to go to a hearing and plead my case in person. A whole month of me spazzing because, ugh, why. And then I'll have to find a free block of time to actually appeal it, should it go that direction.

Geeze, I'm sorry Kiff. Hopefully the appeals office will see what a fucktard they're being. >[
