First day of the mouse job.

Went in and cleaned, gave the mice some water, and added some toilet paper rolls to cages where there was squabbling.

I like this. :3

So many mouses.

The job is only a single hour a week at minimum wage, but it's good to do because it gives me experience. :3

I sure hope something happens, because while I am probably the first to rejoice at people guarding their money and not making frivolous purchases, I don't like the idea of people HAVING TO say, "I am saving this money so I have food at the end of the month."

Are the toilet paper rolls so that they have something to take out their aggression on? (Similar to the way my friend handles her cranky transgendered bunny, who enjoys violently ripping cardboard and newspaper into tiny pieces and then constantly rearranging the results.) Or to distract them with the Shiny New Tube Toy? (This would have totally worked on my roomie's pet mouse, but only after he was terrified of it for like a week. Of course, he was also afraid of toast.)

Mostly distraction. Or, rather, it allows the mice who are being picked on to hide from the bullies. If they can't see them, they don't exist.

Except for the smell of Other Mouse Pee, which just, y'know, prompts more peeing to cover it.

I kinda hate that smell. Once it gets in your nose, it sticks at the back of your throat for a while. :(

I wouldn't know -- I seem to be fairly immune (read: can't smell) most mammal sprays, with the noted exception of cat. I'm even pretty okay with skunk.

Huh. You are like the fourth person I know who has told me that. Can you smell ammonia?

Not strongly. As a matter of fact, in chem lab today, we were doing a reaction that formed ammonia, which we were supposed to identify by smell. Yeah. it took me almost a minute of hard sniffing to even get a whiff.

I think I'm broken. :(

I can't smell ammonia at all. Or a number of other chemicals (like bleach).

Ask Eliyes; it's both amusing and utterly inconvenient for her ;3

I find it a funny contrast that I have (or at least, before the allergies, I had) a sensitive nose and I keep making friends who don't experience scent like I do.

Although I suppose that no two people experience it quite the same way, except maybe identical twins.

You're lucky -- bleach smells terrible. X3
