UPDATE OF DOOOOOM

kiffieThe trip home was awful. It rained the whole way, hard, and so badly that there was a near white-out in places. A white-out. From rain. I was driving for a considerable length of time without really seeing the lines on the road -- I was dependent on the reflectors that dot the highway to let me know where in the lane I was, and these were absent for long stretches.
And then there was the flooding. The rain was heavy enough to push through Voodoo's windshield, and by the end of the trip, there was an inch of water on the passenger side floor, and the driver's side was noticeably wet. If my laptop had been set down on the other side, that would have been utterly ruined. I wound up having the gas station mechanic slather the edge of the windshield with silicone to avoid any further mishaps. After Christmas, Voodoo is getting a new windshield and seal. (Also while at the mechanics, Voodoo got new plugs and points, and now runs like you wouldn't believe.)
The one upside to the trip was that Voodoo's gas milage improved considerably. 36 mpg from San Luis Obispo to LA. And that was before the tune up. Humph. She was probably just bored and needed some Adventure to kick her back into gear. :3
