I just got an automated phone call that began thusly:

"This is the second notification that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire. If you have not responded to this message..."

Shit, that must have been SOME WARRANTY! 8D

The state of Tennessee has been investigating these calls and mail flyers and it's been in the news here. They didn't seem to realize it is just them making shots in the dark.

But we all know that VW is usually pretty good at supporting what they sell anyway. :)

Huh. I didn't bother to listen to the rest of the message, as it was on my pay-by-the-minute cell phone, but do you know what the rest of the thing entails? Do they ask for sensitive information?

Yeah, they probably try to get more information out of you for their dark, nefarious purposes.

Most of the VeeDub dealers I have known also handle Porsches, so six of one. :)

I should have gotten their number. I really would have liked to talk to someone over the phone about how my car's warranty is gonna expire -- and then make the offbeat mention of the car's age. I wonder how fast they'd hang up? :3

See, with me, they call and say "We are calling with important information about your current credit card rating" and I hang up, because dude, I don't have a credit card! And if I did, I'd have it through a bank, and my experience with banks is that they ask you all kinds of questions to confirm your identity before they even tell you why they're calling!
