Trek Stuffs
Nov. 4th, 2006 06:48 pmIsn't there any good Data fic on the interwebs that I have not already read?
I've seen Scarab's stuff, and been through various archives. But the archives seem to be filled with either slash, smut, or Mary Sues the size of the the Excelsior.
I even came across one story that, while it started pleasantly enough dispite a slight Sue, devolved into total anarchy in the space of three paragraphs. I should have pulled out as soon as I saw Lore and Data tolerating one another, but being me, was hopeful that it might have been, against all odds, done well. My hope was placed in vain. A Sue is a Sue is a Sue, and that one was a doozy.
The rest of the archives are filled with something that, surely, was written by someone with no grasp of grammar and spelling. While some even looked interesting, I could not bear to suffer the glaring errors.
I have found, aside from Scarab's awesome stuff, a whopping total of five well-written Data fics that don't make me want to scream. This is severely dissapointing. Surely the android has a following of good writers on the web? I felt as though I were looking for Watchmen fic, but at least Watchmen has the courtesy of leaving blankness where it is not. Data fic has brain-breakage in that same place.
That will teach me to Google Star Trek for anything more than basic pictures.
Also: Do all the good androids asprode to save the world/galaxy/whatever? Because, dude. Ouch.
