Rain, Sludge, or Snow...
Oct. 13th, 2006 07:16 pmOwlbeens do not brake so well.
I rode Archie in the rain today!
It was cold and wet, and his brakes, being of the solid type that stop against the underside of the rim, slipped and did not work. I went down the hill, hoping, praying, that I wouldn't have to make any sudden stops.
Earlier in the week, I passed by the construction site and a TRUCK pulled out from behind a solid gate. The gate is flush with the street. It was... scary. I slammed on Archie's brakes. I almost hit the damned truck. It didn't even see me. I honestly thought I was going to have to put my legs out and push off the thing's doors. But Archie stopped. Somehow.
Anywho, rain.
Incredibly steady bike, I'll give him that. And I love having fenders. No mud on this kiffie!
But damn. I need to find a way to stop in the rain.
