Things

I've been pretty much MIA, I know, and I apologize. A lot has happened, school-wise, to keep me busy. O-Chem has required nearly all of my free time, and I have projects due in my other two classes. Eugh.

Voodoo is still in the shop. I've been checking up on her periodically and things seem to be going well. They'd pulled her fender last week -- they had to cut and re-weld part of her tail because they'd knocked off so much Bondo that there was nothing left to hold anything together. This week, they started Bondo-ing and will have primer down by the end of the week. Paint is next week. She looks good. I'm very pleased with their work. They also tracked down a new tail light bracket to replace the old, smashed one, and will be replacing her "Karmann Chia" logo with a proper one. :3

The Taurus finally dropped its trans entirely about a week ago, and it was taken by a junk yard tow to be parted up. It was a good car.

My mom is working things out with our mechies down South to get Jeeves' nose pulled and a new fender and door attached, and to get him re-glassed. He should go into the shop in about a month. I think they may just leave him primered once the work is done. They just want him running. Also, I don't think my parents have settled on what color to paint him -- my dad wants British Racing Green, my mom wants Mirror Black. They may compromise with a Mirror Gray. We shall see.

Also, as one final present from my Gramma, it appears that what moneys we got from the sale of her house will be enough to buy a new car. My parents want Voodoo home and garaged. They told me I could get whatever I wanted.

Clubman

What think you folks?

Can't your parents compromise on a classic two-tone scheme?

*Looks at the Mini*

Well...it's not like there are a lot of MR/2s on the market these days, eh?

I don't suppose there is a second-hand Porsche Boxter looking for a good home where you are, is there? ;)

...you know, that might not be a bad plan.

I get to continue driving a rear-engined, aircooled car, and my mom is content that I have airbags and a non-flammable frame. :3

But, alas, even the used Porsches are likely out of my pricerange. :/

You won't know till you look in the latest Hemmings Motor News. Try that rather than DuPont Registry. :)

My dad was good with two-tone. My mom gagged.

I think if I was going the Japanese car route, I'd get me a Datsun 240. My dad had one, once upon a time. It was gold and very, very fast. :3

Firstly, I hope things are going well for you in school. :)

And, secondly, I know pretty much next to nothing about cars, but [I think] that the one in the pic is really cute. :D

School is... going. Bleh. I'll be glad when I'm done with this particular series of chem. It is not pleasant.

It is a Mini Cooper Clubman. It's essentially a teeny little station wagon. I want a small car, but I also like to be able to carry things, and I figure it's as close to owning a Fridolin (http://www.dkpoffroad.co.uk/image/800px-Vw_fridolin.jpg) as I'll ever get. It's also got an adorably strange dash layout (http://www.miniusa.com/sections/gallery/image/1024x768/A0095224_1024.jpg) that is somehow appealing.

Not pleasant, but necessary, I gather. *hug* Hang in there.

Ooooh... teeny little station wagon is cuuute and I like that strange dash--even if I would get a mite confundeled by it. :) Yellow... erm... wthisthatidk is cute in its own (very yellow) way too.

Fridolins are VW mail-trucks. They're like a panel-van version of Jeeves (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/kfelidae/Back003.jpg). :3

*feels edjumacated* :D

Btw, I actually do think VW's are pretty cool.

They're unstoppable when they're running, lead weight when they're not, and money pits no matter what. X3

The best thing about them is that they're very easy to work on. I love having a car that I can fix, myself, should I not have any other alternative. In the past, I have. But when I get a new car, that won't be an option anymore. I won't like that.

I loved my '74 Plymouth Reliant for that reason. I could change the air filter and check oil and all kinds of things--without taking it to a dealership. :P

Oh, and I meant to add that I'm glad Voodoo is looking good and should be home soon-ish. :)

*gloms* I luuuuuuv you, get a cute new car. :3 And take pictures. And then take pictures of Voodoo with colorful tropical drinks with umbrellas in them once she's sent to the garage for being a troublemaker. X3

I've heard good things about the Mini.

This made me laugh, which was an interesting experience, since I was also sneezing!

We'll get her some cabana boys waving palm frond and brandishing buffing cloths. ;3

Not to mention the cucumber slices over her headlamp lenses.

Mind you, if I could find a squash big enough, I would do this just for the photo op.

[identity profile] eliyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-26 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! Then I hope you do! :D

[identity profile] kiffie.livejournal.com 2010-02-26 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Voodoo has been looking for manservants new acquaintances...

[identity profile] eliyes.livejournal.com 2010-02-26 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Well, take her to a classic cars or Dub collectors show, I'm sure she'll meet some. ;3
