Ladies and gentlebeens, may I present...
...Frankie.

Frankie is my test fish for the behavioral modification section of Companion Animal. I'm going to be teaching him to come to the surface for food when I tap on the glass.
I've wanted a fish for a while, and this just gave me an excuse to finally go and get one. Frankie is currently in my room, but once he's settled in and used to his new tank, I may move him to the living room so random can also enjoy his fishy fishiness. :3

He has lipstick?

The black colouration is around his eyes and lips, but nowhere else on his face. I'll try and get a better picture later. It's actually why he's called "Frankie" -- one of my classmates thought it made him look like Dr. Frank-n-Furter. X3

I don't think fish can learn "stay."

Usually staring balefully out of the glass at another betta. eta: USE A MIRROR!

They actually need a lot more space than most folks give 'em. Not that they can't live in a teeny-tiny little bowl, but they usually won't thrive. Plus, the proper 5.5g aquarium tanks were cheaper than the 2 gallon "betta" tanks. :3

Man, this makes me miss Nani and Cap'n. I had Nani taught to come to the surface for 'snuggles' (I would actually pet him) and I managed to train them both to come to the surface to get baby spiders I'd kill for them. Bettas are FUN.

They are the best fish. They're surprisingly interactive for supposedly "loner" fishies.
Ahahaha, spider snacks! I should probably get some brine shrimp for this little guy. He only has pellet food, atm.

Wait'll the warmer months. Tiny insects that get inside make the most wonderful snacks for them. Once Cap'n ate an entire canal fly! O_O
Just don't get him flake anything--Cap'n got extremely offended by flake food. @_@

Bettas are great, we had one we got unexpectedly when someone gave my mom one of those vase setups for some reason I don't remember. He eventually got moved to an actual tank and he was a neat fish, although we quickly figured out he was not one of those rare bettas that can have tankmates. :|

crossdresserfish ever. :DI really need to get a better picture of his little face -- his lipstick/eyeliner combo is hilarious.
