*eyeroll*

Last month, Blue and Snowball, our current pair of keets, chewed through their perch. It took until now to get them another. The two others they had in their cage weren't enough.

I placed the new perch in their cage and, within five minutes, Blue had sat down and claimed it as his. He's still there now. I think his bum may be glued to the wood.

Question

How sensitive are birds to burning paraffin and/or kerosene?

I have one electric lamp in my room and two oil lamps. During the summer, it's too hot to read during the day, so I like to read at night. But the electric lamp is exceedingly bright and lacks a dimmer, and I didn't want to disturb Blue or the Dumbi while I read. So I wanted to get out one of my oil lamps.

Then I realized that I hadn't actually used them in my room since getting parakeets. I know the Dumbi aren't sensitive to it, but would Blue be harmed by the fumes?

Anyone?
