I finally got a larger scan of the finished thing.

Just adding it here for archive purposes. )

Eight pages, people.

Now, I never wish to see a plant sample or a mounting board or acetate paper ever again.

You know...

Once you accept that you're not getting any sleep, you don't actually get tired.

Of course, that may also be the giant bottle of fruit juice and horrific adrenaline talking.

God, I'm going to fail so bad at this final paper.

It's finals week.

The classroom next to mine is blasting "Bye Bye Bye."

Nothing like inhaling powdered poison hemlock to start your schoolday.

And I'm not even getting paid for this crap. Ugh.

1) School is eating me alive. With only 1 1/2 quarters left in my college career, this is getting ridiculous and stressful.

2) Hermes is doing well, and is at least giving me something to look forward to when I get home.

3) Comics are one of the few things keeping me sane, lately. Just picked up Winter Soldier, and I like it a lot. The news that DC is releasing a Watchmen prequel... not so much.

4) Pretty sure I splattered some form of horrid bacterial soup on my pants, today. That stain will be interesting to explain.

Embryology class. *facepalm*

So. Yesterday was... interesting.

Because Monday was a holiday, our school made Tuesday into a Monday schedule. So, when these here kiffies got up on Wednesday, they were working on a Tuesday schedule.

I got up early to go to the wrong class, then panicked because it was wrong, forgot important paperwork that I needed for a meeting, and then forgot about the SOPA blackout and logged on for the briefest of time before it clicked that, yes, it was Wednesday, and I logged back off in disgust. No nets for kiffies!

BTW, (willingly) doing without the tubes? Torture.

I just got a "B" in Physics.

How the hell did that happen?

kiffie: Star Trek's Enterprise-D. (Linocut Owl)
So, I'm taking an illustration class, because I needed the units and it seemed like a good idea at the time. Some time in the last week, I injured my right arm and wrist. I'm right-handed. This is a problem, as I had an illustration assignment due this week.

Note: "Had" being the key word. I found out this morning that our teacher has pushed the due date back until next Monday. I stayed up all night working on this damn thing. I'm fairly sure I've further injured my arm to the point that it will take at least another week to heal (driving to class this morning was interesting).

I'm displeased.

I'm displeased that we're told of due date changes at the last minute. I'm displeased that the assignments are never elaborated on, and we end up doing tons of half-starts before the teacher decides we've got something she likes. I'm displeased that this class is eating up my free time. I'm displeased that I'm forgoing working on commissions I owe in order to do this crap.

But, most of all, I'm displeased that we end up rushing through assignments and creating work that is sub-par.

Seriously. I would have LOVED a week to get that right. And if she'd let us know about the extension, I would have HAD a week. Damnit.

First off, still not dead. But certainly feeling the OH GOD WHY pull of school.

Secondly, am slowly (very, very slowly) getting test-sketches done for the final bit of art I owe, to taichara. I have to balance that within what little free time I have, though, so it's moving like molasses. Boo.

I deeply want this poster. I have no idea where I would put it, nor if I can really justify that sort of an expense ATM, but you have no idea of the levels of DO WANT that are currently circulating in my system.

Also, ed may be interested in this badass poster right here. Fuck yeah.

School. I don't even.

Yes, I'm still alive. No, I'm not likely to be online any appreciable amount til the weekend. Argh.

I just got off a 24 hour shift that, somehow, ended up being more than 24 hours.

Nothing of any interest happened for the first 12 hours or so. At around 8am today, one of the heifers went into labor. She didn't show any signs of actually having the calf until noon. We then spent a considerable amount of time chasing her into a pen, and an embarrassing amount of time actually pulling the calf.

It was a bull -- our first pull of the season was also our first male.

My shift officially ended at 6, but I had to stick around and help feed, check the previous week's calves for infection, and clean up. I finally got home around 8:30.

I get to do this all again on Monday. Hooray.

Today, my school began its annual calving enterprise.

I backed into a star thistle. I have hay in places I didn't know it was possible to get hay. I still need to break in my boots.

I start my first full 24-hour shift on Thursday.

This is going to be fun.

:D :D :D

Tried posting this last night and LJ had a fit. We'll see if it works today.

I have finished the pencils and have begun work on inking the squirrel arts. Soon, soon I will be done with it. If only I believe. ~(._.)~

And, I have a midterm next Wednesday. So if I'm not around much (not like I'm around much now, but hey), that's the most likely reason.

Have I mentioned that I hate Chemistry? Because I really, really hate Chemistry. Firey passion kind of hatred, here. Like the flames of a thousand suns. That burn. Burningly.

Also! Voodoo is up for the Summer. The second day back, she promptly made the "failing clutch plate" noise. You know, I'd almost forgotten what it's like to own a car in a permanent state of trying-to-kill-its-owner. I missed the little piece of crap. :3

The last few weeks have been... interesting.

I'm enrolled in summer school (in order to pick up some poor grades, and also to fulfill some GEs), and it's a lot more work than I'd initially figured. The quarters are shorter and more compacted, meaning more material at a faster pace, and, half the time, I'm not even sure where I'm supposed to be, much less what I'm supposed to be learning.

I'm hoping to have a brief reprieve this weekend, and will try and finish the squirrel arts then.

For the curious, random has already been paid and is currently in Europe, spending all of her delicious Euros. Thank you to everyone who donated -- even those who haven't paid yet; she's been given her due.

And, on a different note...

I have found a hilarious way to wind down from studying. )

Have dial-up tubes.

Finals start tomorrow.

Plz send pizza.

Thing One:

ja_bucc! I got your letter! :D

I send many wiggly hugs in your direction. (~._.)~ (._. )

Thing Two:

I will be moving very soon. I am also in the middle of midterms/finals (why we have midterms the week before finals, I'll never know). So, arts are on the backburner until I'm done with schoolings -- grades are important, and I hope everyone I owe arts to is cool with waiting a bit longer.

Thing Three:

As of right now, it looks like the new place I'll be moving into only has dialup. It will very likely curtail my access to the tubes for a long, long while. I won't be kept off, mind, but I won't be on constantly, nor will I be able to surf the Tube of You or take part in silly file-sending sprees or look at pic-spams. Alas.
