Sparkety, you will probably appreciate this--

A quicker-tempo, pop-ier version of "Where's the Girl."

Here. )

I finally finished that pic of Chauvelin that I owed you!

It only took me a year... )

If you want an enormous-sized version for whatever reason, I have that, as well. :3

An extended version of the Takarazuka sword dance. Last half is a semi-tango.

Chauvelin is very energetic, isn't he?

Percy, why are you in the sewers?

More importantly, why are you SINGING in the sewers?

Did you get jealous of Valjean? Decide you needed a musical number about filth? "The Creation of Schmutz?"

God, this whole thing is weird. I hereby swear off Italian musicals.

...right after I finish watching this one.

EDIT:

In regards to the ending:

Percy, you are an ASS. I hope Marguerite made you sleep on the couch for a week.

(Except, it's Percy, he likes sleeping on the couch.)

I really, really wish he would just put out a solo album, already.

C'mon, man! Do it! For science fangirls!

I finally have an icon of a teeny, angry Frenchman.

This makes me so happy. :3

Leopold. For you. :3

Leopold!

Yes, I'm working on your picture of Chau Chau. I'm just... lazy.

This will be quick, because I've been on the road a total of 14 hours in the past three days, and am exhausted.

[livejournal.com profile] random_redshirt and I went down to Escondito (read: San Diego) to see The Scarlet Pimpernel. It was absolutely amazing.

The sets and costumes were wonderful, but oh MAN, the cast was GREAT. The Percy (my booklet thingy says the actor is named "Allan Snyder") was beyond awesome. He hit every mark and looked like he was having the time of his life up on stage. He also held a long-note at the end of "She Was There" that made me very happy, indeed. Mwee. Marguerite was equally as good, though this version of the play (the revised, tour version) didn't allow her the chance to try her hand at "Vivez," which I believe she would have owned entirely. Chauvelin stood out only because the other two were so utterly superb. He wasn't bad by any stretch -- he sang his songs consistently, had wonderful chemistry with both Marguerite and Percy, and made one of the best "dear God get it away from me" faces I have ever seen. But he kept a considerable amount of emotion out of his songs, especially "Falcon in the Dive" and the reprise of "Where's The Girl," both of which call for force and anger and copious amounts of crazy to come out in the voice. But it clearly wasn't for lack of talent. The initial rendition of "Where's The Girl" was beautiful.

The Bounders were, aside from Percy, the most entertaining thing on stage. They were cast well and all were strong actors and singers. Ozzy and Elton stood out by being just over-the-top enough to get laughs without edging into ridiculousness... well, more ridiculousness, anyway. Elton did spend a large part of the play in bright yellow.

Ending thought: If you are in the area, GO SEE IT.

You will not be disappointed. :3

[livejournal.com profile] random_redshirt, Hissy, Hissy's roommate, and I are going to see The Scarlet Pimpernel on the 28th at the Welk Theatre in San Diego.

Anyone in the area want to come along? :D ?

Mmm, foppery.

Now, although I'm happy that there is now a filmed version of Pimpernel...

WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE DONE ONE HERE?

I want Sills, damnit.

Killing time on YouTube before registering for class.

Have some Pimpernel -- Sills and the spelling scene, and Rex Smith singing "Where's the Girl?"

Back on YouTube, I see. :3

William Paul Michaels as Chauvelin, doin' the crazy that he does so well.

Sound is a bit off, but I think that is less the video quality and more the fact that the video's sound is coming mostly from the theatre-mounted speakers, and is therefore delayed. Michaels doesn't seem quite as... well... loud as some of the others. He doesn't overpower the speakers, at any rate. X3

They cut out Grappin getting yelled at. Humph.
kiffie: Animated gif of Sir Percy Blakeney, smiling. (Percy)

Towards the VERY end, about at the sword-dance? I was seriously wondering if they'd magically hopped into another musical.

Then I realized that Percy being able to magically hop anywhere is a terrible idea. We all know that he'd take it apon himself to swap out your wardrobe for something more... summery... whenever you went to work.

Foppery!

Thing One:

A compilation of clips from what I can only assume was "opening night" for Takarazuka's Pimpernel can be found here:

http://www.tca-pictures.net/scarlet/mv07.html

A) I don't know why Chauvelin is suddenly French Elvis for all of two seconds, and B) Damnit, Percy, "Peacock" was supposed to be a figurative term. I am not cleaning up after him when he molts. <(._.)>

Thing Two:

37 Things Percy Is No Longer Allowed To Do. )

Thing Three:

I am in the market for a good coat.

As I will be (hopefully) getting one tailored, I request design ideas. As of right now, I'm looking at Daniels!Adams' coat, as it is well-cut and looks so warm. :3

Send me pictures of (attractive) people in coats!
